About Carolyn

Carolyn Lim is the spunky creator of Making Pink Lemonade.

A self-professed shopaholic and an out-going extrovert, she was struck by lightning on 10 September 2006 while windsurfing at East Coast Park. The accident may have put a stop to her shopping escapades but her humour, wit and effervescent personality remain intact. Carolyn’s grit and determination remained unchanged as well and since her accident, Carolyn has attended the course for and achieved a Master of Education (English Language) from the National Institute of Education.

It has been more than three years since that fateful day. And after successful neurosurgery, a tracheotomy, tireless care from nurses and abundant love from her parents and boyfriend (now husband), Carolyn is now well on the road to recovery and eager to do something meaningful with her life.

Although she is now confined to the wheelchair, Carolyn is resolved not to be a burden to her family, friends or society. She calls herself a connoisseur of life and while she may be restricted in terms of mobility, she is determined not to be held back otherwise.

“I still have lots to contribute and I’m not going to let this little matter stop me!” Carolyn declares with a hint of steel in her voice and a twinkle in her eye.

Despite the accident, Carolyn is happy to celebrate LIFE! She feels that it is the emotional and psychological effects that were toughest to deal with. She thus wishes to share her experience and encourage others who are going through difficulties. English has always been her forte and Carolyn is now putting her language skills to good use by penning her own book, Making Pink Lemonade. This debut effort will detail her experience over the past three years and the lessons about life that she has learnt along the way.

Making Pink Lemonade was launched on 15 November 2009.
