I must first apologise because I have no photos of this visit. I can only try to excuse myself by saying that pregnancy has swooped in and sent my brain on vacation...
Well, on 23rd July 2010, I was a speaker at ACJC for one of their CF sessions. I've actually been in correspondence with their VP, Mr D'Souza, for some time prior to this.He had been trying to find a slot that would work best for me to come in as a speaker. Even before my visit, I had been tremendously impressed by the warmth and heart that seems to imbue the school and its students.
The focus of my talk at ACJC was to be slightly different from my previous ones. I would be changing the theme a little, to focus more on the love that has been a HUGE part of my life since my accident and how it has propelled me on in my life thus far. Admittedly, I was more nervous than I usually was (for school talks) cos I would be covering some material that I usually did not touch on. Thankfully, the talk was ok (thanks to my incredibly patient and understanding audience)! The talk was actually quite well-received and after that, some students even took the trouble to come up to say they had liked it. It always makes my day to know that I had reached out and touched students with what I'd had to say.
After that, I stayed for dinner (such lucky students to get dinner provided after their CF!) It was great, especially since I got to talk to the kind souls who had made it possible for me to be there. The principal even took time out from her busy schedule (after a long meeting) to pop by and join us for a while! All too soon, it was time for me to leave. If all goes well, I may be back again and I daresay that it will be an equally enjoyable session, if not more so! :)
